Louis Walsh Signs Up To X Factor For £1million

Louis Walsh has signed up to judge the new X Factor - after refusing to push for a rise on his old £1million deal.

He told bosses it was not right to ask for more as many viewers are struggling financially.

The 60-year-old pop boss’s stance is in stark contrast to the other judges on the show, which is back on ITV at the end of August.

Sharon Osbourne is this week set to sign to return after agreeing a £1.8million package, including £300,000 in first-class plane tickets between the US and UK.

Gary Barlow wants to boost his £1.5million deal and is close to signing. Nicole Scherzinger wants a similar agreement to Gary’s - but sources say she is “90 per cent certain” to return.

Louis’ continuation of the deal he has had for two years will see him clock up a decade on the show.

The insider said: “Louis is mindful of economic troubles, particularly in his native Ireland where the property market has crashed, so he didn’t think it was right to ask for a pay rise.”

“A £1million deal is plenty for anyone and he’s just happy to have his place back on the panel.”

Louis, who created Boyzone and Westlife, also revealed plans to form a new boy band to rival One Direction.

He will hold auditions in Ireland next weekend and has a record company and high-profile partner ready to launch the group.

He said: “It will be boys over 16 from anywhere. I am looking for five pop stars - but they must be prepared to work hard.”
